Prof Yi-Wen Chiu, a dedicated Taiwanese nephrologist, commits his career to advancing the understanding and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Graduated with a medical degree from Kaohsiung Medical College in 1992, he refined his skills through research training at Harbor-UCLA/LA Biomedical Research Institute from 2008 to 2010. Dr. Chiu holds the esteemed position of Director of the Department of Internal Medicine & Division of Nephrology at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University. He considers it a privilege to contribute to his field and has held supervisory roles in prestigious organizations such as the Taiwan Society of Nephrology since 2016, serving as Director of the CKD Prevention Committee between 2019-2022. Board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine, Dr. Chiu's interests encompass CKD care, mineral bone disorder, and dialysis. Recently, he has delved into the application of artificial intelligence in dialysis care, marking a new core investigation for him. His expertise and commitment have been demonstrated through numerous invited speeches at international conferences, including the Asia Forum of CKD, ISPD Asian Chapter, Thailand-Malaysia-Taiwan, and KSN-TSN-JSDT Joint Symposium.
