Dr Liao is currently the Chief of the Division of Nephrology, Department of Internal Medicine at Taipei Medical University-Shuang Ho Hospital, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Following the completion of nephrology training at National Taiwan University Hospital, he moved to UK in 2010 to conduct peritoneal dialysis basic and translational research and obtained a Ph.D. degree from Cardiff University in 2015. Throughout his academic career, he has won several prestigious awards such as EDTA-ERA Young Investigator Award (2009), EU Marie Curie International Fellowship Award (2011), and Kidney Research UK Fellowship Award (2016). His major research interests focus on peritoneal and kidney immunity and dialysis outcome studies. He has published scientific papers in highly influential journals such as Science, Immunity, Nature Communications, Kidney International and many more. Besides, he is actively participating in national and international societies, now serves as the Deputy Director of International Affairs and Cooperation Committee of Taiwan Society of Nephrology, and the Deputy Coordinator of International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) Asia-Pacific Chapter (APC) and Editor of ISPD APC Newsletter.
